I support your position on the Ukraine and will look for opportunities to work with you in rebuilding the economy. we've got to find a viable path to stop this war AND stop further aggression by Putin.
Another insighful and pragmatic piece on Ukraine, its people and the fundamental opportunities it offers the US for its full support on protecting Ukraine's long term sovereignty. I believe I speak for many in our inustry - We are so very proud of you and your efforts!
One has to wonder if P&G is caught in the same web as big tech. As layoffs pile up, a likely culprit (and one that gets no attention) is the elimination of a 70 year old provision in the US tax code. It allowed for 100% deduction of R&D costs, including head count. Quartz wrote about it this week. Have a read and you'll learn why so many jobs are on the chopping block -
Amen Dave I agree 100%, and Putin isn't going to stop at Ukraine I fear he'll try and take Poland and other European countries as well which they shouldn't take the Russian oil either. All the banks across the world should freeze Russian assets and bank accounts as well.
Great piece on the Tesla and the cybertruck fiasco. I actually drive an old Toyota Tacoma so am a bit biased toward more traditional truck design. That being said, it is also interesting to note that Musk never mentions how much his companies have been supported by the US government which according to most estimates has totaled at least $38 billion in loans, subsidies, and tax credits over the past two decades.
Have to agree with Ed Papazian - there is little to no definition of what engagement means and how it translates to sales. Effective is a nebulous term that needs more elaboration here. Even on the EDO site there isn't a great explanation of this methodology or parameters.
That's spot on, Sara. The numbers in the article are practically meaningless to advertisers and brands without being tied to the 'opportunity to see ads' factor. The exception for brands might be in product integrations, but for regular advertising, this article is very misleading.
Agree with "Master," Ed. At the very least, when you Wayne use the term "effective" in your headline. you should have one sentence, or one footnote, that says how they operationally defive "effective." Is it a) went immediately to the brand's website? b) scored more likely to buy on a convenience survey/poll? c) mentioned the brand in a recent social post? d) scored higher than a "control" groupl sample did? You see Wayne, there are many ways one could make this claim of effectiveness. All Ed and I would hope for is that researchers and then you, the press are transparent so that we can understand exaxtly what this means.
Wayne, without a definition of what constitutes "effectiveness" it's impossible to draw any conclusions from this info. If they are measuring ad impact or exposure--or something else aside from share of GRPs,we need to know that. If its an indication of ad impact--consumers being motivated to buy the brand--I would be very surprised to see the differences you indicate provided that the same demos are involved for each media type.
i think you're vastly underestimating the importance of development and execution. The only product Tesla released before Musk's coup was the Roadster, a Lotus body with an electric powertrain. If the Model S, X, and 3 were based on the design and engineering of the founders, it took an unconsionably long time to bring each of them to market.
The Tesla Cybertruck looked was weird looking I wasn't sold on it but I'm not a truck person to begin with. I have always liked Elon Musk he is a genius with other companies like Space X which the former Biden admin should've used Elon and Space X to get the astronauts back to earth in 2024 and not in 2025 a few months ago. It was petty of Biden to do it because Musk supported Trump, and also Neuralink putting computer chips into humans getting there mortor skills back that is pretty cool thing Musk is helping the world with his ideas even with a few things that have flopped which every genius has had some fails with their companies.
Hmmm. So the operation plan is "... demanding nothing from advertisers but connection to their bank account."
But what happens if the advertiser doesn't want, like or accept the advertisement that was publicly released without approval by the advertiser? Sounds like a massive court case in the offing.
